Join us for an exhibition of photographer Jessica Cantlin's body of work 'In Winter' as we toast to the opening of our studio!
“In Winter” is a series of photographs that document the landscape experiencing the extremities of transient winter weather patterns. Through my work, I have discovered that weather is the single determining factor that can completely change an ordinary landscape photograph. Wind creates current. Snow brings brilliant negative space and naturally cold tones. Fog erases horizons and transforms a windy lake into mirrored glass. And my favorite, the winter brings migratory birds en masse to the waters of the Pacific Northwest. So, while we damn the weather, I am thankful for the heavy air, cold temperatures, and dim light that momentarily transform an unremarkable scene into a captivating photograph.
Jessica Cantlin is a fine art landscape photographer from Seattle. Her photographs capture the quiet landscape that exists where people and nature intersect with the environment.
